Dear Camp Matollionequay Parents!

As the 2019 summer has come to an end and the school year has begun, I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU.  Thank you for sharing your summer with us and for sharing your greatest gift of all – your daughter.  It is truly an honor to be a part of this wonderful community and without you, there would be no Matolly.  THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Throughout this summer we have shared some really special moments as a community – whether it was a musical lunch, the array of activities, the unplanned cabin time due to stormy weather, evening activities, special events or the laughter and tears, the challenges and triumphs, whatever it was, all helped us grow as individuals.  This was also the first year introducing our Empowerment Emblem Program that taught our campers life skills, and this program will continue to grow with us.  We also added a little something to our morning routine and introduced The Morning Empowerment Show, which included a rundown of the day ahead.  We highlighted a core value of the day, a quote to live by and ended with the whole camp shouting, “Have courage and be kind!”

Your daughter inspires me every day to be a better person – to explore, grow and thrive.  I am so thankful to be among some of the greatest teachers, our campers.  My hope is that as your daughter lives out this school year, every now and then, she takes a moment to reflect on her camp experience and the lessons that she took away.  And as challenges arise this year, to remember that if we fall, to get back up and try again.  To remember that we can do hard things and sometimes it just takes a little creativity and an openness to get there a different way. To remember that it’s the journey not the destination that is most important.

E Early Registration for Summer Camp 2020 opens on Sept. 20, 2019. I invite you to continue your journey with us and together we can create more joyful moments and opportunities to learn something new, to challenge ourselves, to make new friends and to be our perfectly imperfect selves.

I would like to leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the poet Maya Angelou – “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
