YMCA of the Pines is the premier camp facility in the heart of the Pines of South Jersey
“My kids have the best summers of their lives here! They never stop talking about how great camp is, and I don't even have to drag them out of bed in the morning to go! Love the values that are instilled in them.”
- Andrea Veneziano
Overnight Camp for Boys, ages 7-16
At Camp Ockanickon, our focus is on the individual growth and development of skills and talents distinctive to boys. Living in rustic cabins with boys their own age, Ocky campers learn cooperation, sharing, fair play and how to forge new, lasting friendships. They spend their days swimming, kayaking, canoeing, enjoying a sport with new friends, improving their aim on the archery range or learning a new appreciation of nature in our Earth Education program. Counselors, trained to be mentors, help teach new skills that build confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance. Character-building while connecting with nature; this is the hallmark of a Camp Ockanickon experience.
Overnight Camp for Girls, ages 7-16
Camp Matollionequay offers the best of a traditional summer camp experience – amazing friendships, challenging and fun activities – all with a focus on inspiring girls to reach their full potential. With encouragement from an extraordinary staff, Matolly girls have the opportunity to develop positive self-esteem and discover independence in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. Our campers participate in nature hikes, swimming, boating, creative arts, athletics, archery, a ropes and adventure course and so much more. Besides sing-alongs and s’mores by a campfire, Matolly campers end each day with “cabin chat,” to reflect on the day and strengthen friendships. Future leaders are born at Camp Matollionequay.
Co-ed Day Camp for Boys & Girls, ages 5-15
At Lake Stockwell Day Camp, children grow, develop and forge lifelong relationships while exploring a host of new and exciting activities. From water activities and sports to creative arts and the challenge course, each day is packed with safe, age-appropriate activities. The Lake Stockwell program also features weekly theme days, talent shows and family nights, providing an exceptional experience for the first-time camper and returning campers. Counselors are trained to be “Professional Role Models” and their incredible character traits are always on display. A Lake Stockwell experience will positively impact a child, creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
Day Camp for 3-4 Year Olds
We now offer both a morning-only and a full-day Preschool Camp in the summer, where our youngest campers (3 and 4 year olds) can participate in crafts, outdoor fun, games and more in a safe, nurturing environment with our well-trained professional staff members. The Preschool Camp program is designed to promote children’s social development and prepare them for structured educational activities.
Let’s Go Explore! Wilderness Expeditions for Ages 11-15
BOLD & GOLD offers the opportunity for youth to develop leadership skills in a diverse group of peers. While hiking or canoeing through the wilderness of the South Jersey Pine Barrens and overcoming challenges together, youth have the opportunity to develop courage, confidence, emotional intelligence, community awareness, and a sense of wonder – all necessary skills for success in school and in their communities.
Teen Leadership Trips: Experience The Challenge and Adventure! Separate Gender Trips for ages 14-16
This backcountry journey challenges campers both physically and mentally as they backpack through a section of the Appalachian Tail and canoe through the beautiful Delaware River National Recreation area. Campers are given the opportunity to build leadership skills, courage, confidence, friendship, and a deeper appreciation of the outdoors.
Rangers is a capstone of the Ockanickon and Matollionequay camp programs, and spends the first and last part of the session at camp, sleeping in rustic cabins. The entire experience is 14 days long, 9 days of which are spent adventuring off-site in the wilderness and sleeping in tents.
All trips are led by experienced instructors who take part in extensive training and hold certifications in Wilderness First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguarding.
Fostering Development, Independence, and Joy!
At YMCA of the Pines, we are a culture of caring, based on empathy, respect and empowerment. We welcome everyone, including campers with intellectual and developmental disabilities, visual impairments, trying personal circumstances, including children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. Our Specialty Camp programs foster development, independence, and joy in all of the children who attend. Children learn about, and come to appreciate, the similarities and differences in one another – and friendships flourish. Both our counselors and volunteers are well-trained and have vast experience working with children of differing abilities, ensuring that all are safe and secure while they experience the thrills of camp.
