This year, when I was planning the theme for the Annual Campaign, I decided to ask my almost 11-year-old daughter Isabella – who has benefited from both day camp and overnight camp – what is the gift we give children when they come to camp. Her immediate response was, “The Gift of Opportunity!” I was filled with emotion when I heard her say that. She is right; here at camp we are giving the gift of opportunity to thousands of children to explore, grow and thrive. We are giving children an opportunity to be themselves, to experience new things, to overcome fears and to have a voice. Children come to camp for various reasons and from different walks of life, but once they are here at camp they pretty much share a common journey – a journey of growth!

I have witnessed the impact of camp on both of my daughters. (I also have a very cute 4-year-old named Sofia who attends Preschool camp – or as she says to all of her friends, “my camp.”)  They are both lucky to be able to experience all that camp has to offer and so are the many children who have been given the opportunity to come here. Many of these children over 700 children – come to camp through scholarships and financial aid, thanks to the support of many caring individuals. That’s pretty awesome, right? I think so.

You, too, can give the gift of opportunity! Learn more about the Give the Gift of Opportunity Campaign here https://www.classy.org/campaign/give-the-gift-of-opportunity/c172715
