The recent nasty Nor’easters certainly put a hurtin’ on our 800 acres of pine forest here at camp. We had more downed trees than we could count; many of them blocking trails or leaning precariously on structures. Our trusty maintenance staff was  doing its best to get ahead of the mess, but help was certainly needed. So on Thursday, March 29, nearly all full-time camp staffers – and a bunch of kind-hearted volunteers and seasonal workers – spent most of the day clearing debris, raking leaves and sweeping and dusting from a pretty messy winter.

It was a hard day’s work for sure – especially for those of us more accustomed to sitting at a desk behind a computer all day. But it was also invigorating, productive and very gratifying to have spent the day outside with our camp friends, doing something for the good of all. Plus, we feasted on pizza and delicious chocolate cookies at mid-day!

When you visit us for our upcoming Open House events (April 7, from 2-5 pm; May 20, from 1 to 4 pm; and June 3, from 1 to 4 pm) or our Family Fun Day (May 6, from 1 to 4 pm) – perhaps you’ll notice how nice our camp grounds look, despite the late winter/early spring storms. We especially hope that you notice what a great place camp is overall – with dedicated, caring staff members and character-building programs for families, teens and children all year long. Can’t wait to see you soon!
