Hello folks…

As my title to this post may lead you to think about the weather… it is not about that. I am not a weather man and I have no idea what tomorrow or next week may bring in terms of temperature or precipitation.

What I am eluding to is the fact that Camp is right around the corner we are beginning to move out of the winter projects mode and on to busier times ahead leading up to Summer Camp!

A mental thaw, so to speak.

Today we held our first Open House of the season and, wow, what a turn out we had!

Hundreds of families showed up to see Camp, take tours, talk to our experienced staff, make S’mores and register for Summer Camp. I personally got to talk to families that have concerns with unique diets and food allergies to help ease their minds about coming to Camp.

“Be plain and fair to all, both Indian and Cristian alike”… those were Chief Ockanickon’s last words of wisdom… and here in the kitchen, our credo is much in the same vein. We will work with our Camper families… no matter what kind of dietary restrictions or issues are present… to ensure that each and every Camper that comes to Camp is well fed and feels unencumbered by the issues. Some diets may take more cooperation from the families to support our service to their child but we are willing, ready and able to take on the challenges.

If you are interested in sending someone to Camp and a dietary issue is holding you back or making you nervous… please feel free to contact me at any time here in the Kitchen at Camp. You can easily reach me via email at jason@ycamp.org… and we will do our best to work with you to make sure that your child has an amazing, worry-free time here at Camp. Between myself, a professional Chef with 17 years of experience here at YMC Camp Ockanickon… and my Assistant of 13 years AND Nutritionist,  Nick Homa… we can answer any questions you may have, calm any fears and will work as a team with you to provide the dietary needs your child requires.

Thanks for reading and we hope to see you soon!!

Be good…

Chef Jason
