I think I probably wrote a blog about this last year, but since it is an annual event, I can probably get away with sharing my excitement again.  It’s a great thing to be able to honestly say that I love my job.  I don’t think that is the case for everyone.  One of my favorite parts of being Boys Camp Director is assembling the “staff puzzle,” as I like to call it.  Each winter, I start to receive applications from new job candidates and rehire applications from returners.  It’s always great to see so many of last year’s staff applying to work again.  Once I know who is planning on returning, I can start to figure out which staff member will best fill each position.  This is a lot of fun for me, because I get to really think about the job they have done for Camp in the past and how much they have grown throughout their time at Ockanickon.  It is so satisfying to watch these Ocky boys, most of whom were campers at one time, rise from the rank of AC’s to Counselors and then on to Leadership positions.  As much fun and as satisfying as this task is, it is also quite stressful, since the success of our summer depends on getting the right people on the bus and then getting them into the right seats.  Please wish myself and the other directors luck as we assemble our teams of Professional Role Models for the summer of 2013!
