Camp was filled today with heaps of anticipation from the campers, ready for their first full day on the nation.  Right after breakfast (consisting of bacon and eggs, English muffins, cereal bar, fruit, yoghurt and oatmeal) the campers went straight into Progressive skill.  Some of the options offered for skill were long distance running, drama, newspaper, and hockey.
Throughout the rest of the day the villages ventured out to activity areas playing “Sky ball” at landsports, making collages at Arts and Crafts, hiking around Ockanickon at Nature, learning the basics at Archery and Air Riflery,  playing “Pirates and Merchants” at boating, and growing as a team at the Ocky challenge Course.

And of course last, but not least (my personal favorite camp activity) SWIMMING AT THE OCKY WATERFRONT!!!  Now I may be a little biased as I am the Waterfront Director but it’s always a blast down there.   Today consisted of the campers getting the chance to play a couple of games in the water, such as Zombie Tag (a huge hit) and some relays, as well as choosing which swim class they would like to try out for. Everyone made it into a swim class whether it was Guppy, Fish, Flying Fish or Shark and I can sincerely say they all tried their hardest!

Over the next 2 weeks the lifeguard staff and I are hopeful that we can teach the Ocky boys of Session 4 some new swimming skills and how to improve on their existing ones.  We are also looking forward to “International day” down at the waterfront, where all the guards are going to put on their best and thickest accents from their home country, throughout free swim and lessons.  With guards from Australia, New Zealand, England, and Scotland it should be a fun day
After a rigatoni and meatball dinner and some birthday celebrations, camp headed out to the bowl for the pony express (US and intercamp mail), flag lowering and the passing off of the Golden Toilet Bowl for cleanest cabin (Today’s recipient: Cabin 3 in Cherokee !!!)
The villages made their way to evening activity; Cherokee to play Ultimate Frisbee, Seneca to the Gaga Pit, Algonquin and Oneida to Star Wars Dodgeball and Mohawk having a Lord of the Rings style field game.
Currently camp is pretty quiet after an exciting and fun filled day, campers are heading to bed after they have brushed their teeth and done pow wow.  Hopefully after such a busy day, once their head hits the pillow they will be out like a switch of their flashlights.
