Last night while watching one of my favorite movies “Coach Carter”, with Samuel L Jackson, a quote caught my attention.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.’ We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be… Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do… as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

I was inspired to find that it was Marianne Williamson who first put these words on paper in 1992. Williamson is saying that we should take the world on and do our best at whatever challenge we take on. By letting our natural skills shine we will give confidence to the people around us to do the same. The challenges we face are the gateway to finding our strengths. Whether it is school, work, or something else, bring in your power of understanding and be confident in the effort you give knowing it is your right to be the best you can be.
