Well, Camp is really a beautiful place to live. Summer is filled with kids, Fall is filled with amazing colors on the trees and Spring is all about getting excited for the summer. Since moving from Colorado just 2 weeks shy of 4 years ago, I often miss the snowy peaks that I would see outside of my apartment windows. The view of looking out on the continental divide with a fresh coat of snow was one of the most anticipated events in town. It marked the start of the snowy season which meant it was almost time to start skiing but, to put it into perspective, those peaks usually got a nice coating in late August and the resorts would not open till October on a good year.
My very first weekend at Camp, we had 10 inches of snow, followed by a few more great snow storms. The following year…the same thing, it was amazing. Then last year…well, the only real snowstorm we had was over Halloween and I was in Wisconsin where it was in the mid-50’s and sunny…which was weird for that time of year.
So of course I was really excited about this snow storm because it meant we had the potential for some real snow that would last more than a couple of hours. We did not get as much snow as the rest of the Northeast but we did have enough to do some shoveling around Camp this morning. What made this morning even more special, was the fact that we hosted the Pinelands Chilly Willy 4 miler. Of the 75 people who signed up, 50 showed and by the time the horn went off, the roads had almost cleared up and the sun was out. The feedback from the racers was how happy they were to still come out and run this morning.
I took a quick walk through Camp just to get some pictures, which are below. If you have never had a chance to walk through Camp after a snow storm…you are going to be pretty jealous. This place is amazing after it snows.
