On Saturday, we hosted a 10K Mudrun and all I can say is “WOW”. I have been part of plenty of races, mountain races, city races, even water races, but this was like nothing I had ever seen before. Friday evening I spent a few hours reviewing the course that encompassed all three of our Camps. As I toured, I kept laughing with Chad Mason (founder of the ABF 10K Mudrun) about the possible reactions of the participants. Each time I asked “Are you sure people are going to be okay with this?” he assured me its how Mudruns go…it’s for a special breed of people.

Saturday morning, I stood on the dock of Bette’s Beach with Dave Kaubin and as we watched the 1st participants take the plunge into Lake Stockwell…which was extremely cold…we watched the facial expressions of each participant and of course heard a few choice words. Yes, people did not make the full length of the swim, but they did make it to the finish line which was more then I (or Dave) would have even attempted.

All said, there was close to 500 registered racers for the 10K Mudrun which helps benefit our annual Strong Kids Campaign.
