It’s almost time for lunch here at Ockanickon and it has been a great morning all over camp. Although the session is still young, just shy of two full days, it’s amazing to see the connections being made and friendships already forming. We have a fantastic group of young men here that choose to make this the community that it has become. From camper to staff, everyone is doing their part. And of course, the fun is in full gear all over the nation today.

This morning our Oneida boys enjoyed some time split between Creative Arts and Archery. The guys came together to begin construction on a cardboard rollercoaster. It’s really cool to see a group come together to create an idea and run with it. Over at Earth Education Brennan took the Algonquins out for shelter building behind the Nature Cabin. What could be better than a bunch of 11 and 12 year old boys building forts out in the woods? While the Mohawks were at the Challenge Course, the Cherokees enjoyed a game of Human Pinball with Roger. Our Rangers continued their preparation for their journey with a short hike around the lake.  Finally, Zach and Mike led one of the most remarkable boating classes I’ve seen this summer. They each took a group and taught them some basic canoeing strokes. Afterwards, the groups met back up and paired off with someone from the other group. Then he had the kids teach each other the strokes they had just learned!  What an awesome way to build confidence in our campers!

Lunch is just getting started and I do believe the kitchen is cooking up some taco’s for everyone, so that’s my queue to wrap up and go get some grub.

Thanks for all your support and enjoy the great weather today!

I love camp!
