CaptureSpring2015

As winter melts away, we here at the YMCA Camp Ockanickon Outdoor Center are excited to welcome Spring and all that comes with it. Put away the heavy coats and mittens because it is time to get back outside and have some fun. This past week at the Outdoor Center, we had two different schools join us at Camp just before hosting our annual Spring Military Family Weekend.

The Moorestown Friends School 4th Grade Class enjoyed a variety of activities over their three days at Camp, including being the first school group to make it back out over “the swamp” since the fall.  While MFS got some mud in their boots, Rumson Country Day School came out to participate in two days of teambuilding and high adventure.

All this just in time for the first of nine family programs scheduled for this year. First on the block was our Spring Military Family Weekend. Service members and their families got a chance to spend time canoeing, hiking, and doing much more. Families got a chance to challenge themselves on the climbing tower and supporting each other at the archery range.

As the sun beats away this long winter, it’s great to see so many students and families back with us here at the Outdoor Center. We’re all looking forward to a great Spring!
