Today saw the start of an amazing summer.

Today it rained… but it didn’t slow anyone down.

Today I got a message from an old friend from my hometown of Pennsauken… out of the blue… that simply said “Make some good food tomorrow! My boy is going to be hungry!” I had no idea his child was coming to start at our Day Camp tomorrow… but it thrilled me beyond belief.

Today I got to see a lot of familiar and friendly faces. Old friends & new acquaintances.

Today I got to take part in the power of social media to share the beauty and magic of Camp.

Today, although I am a Chef, I didn’t have time to slow down and eat… as Chefs rarely do.

Today I got a text message from a former staff member who works at another YMCA Camp in Hawaii that read “Good luck and keep on cooking the best Camp food in the world!”

Today I got to witness my new kitchen staff members feel the energy of a dining room full of Campers and Staff singing their hearts out.

Today I tucked our little one into her bed, full of excitement to start our new Pre-School Camp program tomorrow as her first Camp experience.

Today I started my 17th summer of service here in the kitchen at YMCA Camp Ockanickon.

Today was a good day.

Now lets bring on tomorrow.

Be good…
