With the addition of session 6, a co-ed Resident Camp program held on the grounds of Camp Matollionequay, our new indoor sports court for Lake Stockwell Day Camp, the amazing new water inflatable which will be shared by all three Camps, an additional day of swimming for members at Cherokee Beach and our Pre-School Camp based out of Cherokee Beach, 2013 Summer Camp cannot get here quickly enough.

It amazes me each summer how quickly 10 weeks can pass by, but I am constantly reminded that as quickly as each summer passes by, it’s going to arrive just as quickly. While Camp is in no way quiet during the off-season, each day is still filled with school children, families, members all enjoying sunny days and beautiful scenery. Just yesterday, we had a 130 6th graders leave after spending 3 days with us doing archery, boating and crossing the swamp. School’s out at Camp had 60 children (mostly from Lake Stockwell Day Camp) who spent the day with us enjoying program like ga-ga, boating, arts and crafts and I spent my afternoon mountain biking with 6 kids as part of our weekly Intro to Mountain Biking program.

But….while I enjoy the cooler temperatures, the changing of the leaves and sometimes the eerie silence of Camp in the middle of the afternoon, I still do look forward to Brent, Gab, and MaryAnn greeting the 2013 summer staff on Sunday, June 16th…only to be out done by thousands of smiling campers arriving at Camp in the following weeks.  June 23, 2013 cannot get here quickly enough!
