Quality Child Care for Remote Learning
The YMCA of the Pines is pleased to announce that we have been able to adapt our programming to fit the unique needs of families during this challenging time. Beginning November 30, 2020, we will operate a full-day licensed child care program at our camp facility located at 1303 Stokes Road in Medford for students who are completing their remote learning days. The program will utilize our indoor spaces for school work, arts and crafts, and other socially-distant activities, and a few hundred of our 800 acres of outdoor spaces for games, hikes, STEM activities, and more.
Students will need to bring their school work and personal electronic device (Chromebook, iPad, etc), and we will have staff available to assist with lessons in the morning and any additional homework or class meetings in the afternoon. In the afternoons, our staff will also plan and execute art and STEM projects, outdoor games, supervised free play, hikes, and more. Students will be given short brain breaks in the morning where they can get outside to stretch, and on inclement weather days will have access to various toys and games for breaks.
The program will follow all current guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and New Jersey’s Department of Children and Families (DCF), the child care licensing authority in the State.
Students will submit to a health screening daily, including having their temperature taken upon arrival. Students and staff will be required to wear masks inside of our facilities, and will maintain group ratios of 1 staff to 15 students, at the most.
Outside, students and staff will wear masks when social distancing is not possible, but time will be planned for distanced mask breaks and activities. Note, guidelines and ratios are subject to change based on direction from DCF or the CDC.
Limited enrollment will be accepted, and families may register for as many or as few days as desired. Registration is online at ycamp.org/Register. Current School’s Out families will be provided with a discount code to cover the initial registration fee. Registration will be closed each week on Wednesday for the following week. Exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Students may attend from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, weekdays, and YMCA of the Pines will provide a PM snack (students are responsible for packing their own breakfast/lunch). The program cost is $60 per day, per child.

Our School’s Out staff members are a diverse group of mature and caring individuals who truly love working with children. Before we send any staff member into our School’s Out before- and after-school child care program, they are rigorously interviewed, background-checked, fingerprinted and participate in a thorough orientation which addresses safety, youth development, counseling techniques, bullying resolution and required State of New Jersey policies.
These professional staff members provide children with a positive environment, as well as fun, safe and age-appropriate activities that aim to foster healthy development, new relationships, self-confidence and new skills.
