Hello Friends…

Every day here at Camp can be considered a special day.

A warm Summer night with the smell of marshmallows roasting over a campfire. A cool Spring evening with a symphony of critters and insects of all shapes and sizes emerging from their winter slumber. A snow covered Winter landscape where everything seems to be frozen to the point of complete stillness. A crisp Fall morning where the sun hits the changing leaves just right to make the canopy appear to be ablaze with beautiful colors.

Children playing over at the Gaga court at Day Camp. Apples being pressed in to cider at our Fall Festival. Sledding down Blueberry Hill. Fishing at the Ocky dam. Canoeing on Squaw Lake.

Families gathering. Groups exploring. Children learning. People sharing.

Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility.

The Four Core Values of the Y.

Like the four seasons each value just as important as the next. Just as important to paint the complete picture.

365 days ago… my wife and I brought a beautiful baby girl into this world. Charlotte Monique Ostroski was welcomed in to our Camp Family 4 seasons ago, today.

It’s up to us as parents to show her the value of living and breathing the Four Core Values. To show her the positive and amazing things that can happen when you hold yourself responsible, show respect to all you encounter, treat everyone and everything with care and to be honest to yourself and others.

It’s up to YOU as our Camp Family…our Camp Friends… all of us that have spent one magical day at Camp… to those of us who call Camp ‘home’… to everyone who has a piece of Camp with them at all times, tucked in a quite, peaceful spot in their hearts… it’s up to all of us to spread those Values for future generations.

Keeping the spirit of Camp alive and well for my beautiful one year old and all future generations is my charge… and a charge I will put out to everyone.

Keep the Values alive at home, at work & wherever your travels take you… come out and be an active & positive part of our Camp community… volunteer your time… give what you can… participate.

It’s that simple.

Happy Birthday Charlotte!!

Be good…
