The School’s Out Program curriculum is based on the YMCA’s approach to child care. As the national leader in child care programming, decades of experience and expertise has gone into the refinement of the program.
Site supervisors develop monthly lesson plans that allow children the opportunity to participate in activities such as: Arts and Humanities, Character Development, Math, Literacy, Science and Nature and Quality Homework Time. We offer young people diverse experiences for learning through developmentally appropriate activities and practices.
Our programs incorporate three major components:
Healthy U: In conjunction with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NJ, this program teaches children healthy eating and exercise habits that can promote positive behaviors for a lifetime.
Kids Literacy: A reading enrichment program designed to increase young people’s motivation to read and build their literacy skills.
Homework Assistance: Every child will have access to quality homework time when School’s Out staff members will be available for support.
In addition to providing the School’s Out Program in your child’s school, The YMCA Camps also has an 800-acre camp. All School’s Out participants will have the opportunity to participate in FREE field trips to our camp where they can participate in unique and rewarding outdoor adventures.
