Hello Friends... Camp recently had a very special guest come for a visit. You guessed it... Santa himself stopped by our annual Breakfast with Santa to say hello to all the boys and girls who came out. I suppose we wouldn't call it Breakfast WITH Santa if we didn't have his reservation already on the books!! The Camp Staff all pitched in to help myself and my assistant Nick serve up a great breakfast buffet to 3 very full seatings of friends, family, members and all sorts of folks from our community. The Ockanickon Dining Hall was warmed with a [...]

Camp had a very special visit.

Hey folks! If you have visited Camp recently, or plan to visit soon, you will notice that the lakes look... well... a little empty. "Why?" you ask... well, I was wondering the same thing. Over all the years of working and living here at Camp, I never really knew why we lower the lakes every fall through the winter. I went straight to the source... our own Property Director, Mike Dzwill because surely he would have an answer for us. Mike informed me that lowering the lakes in the winter has a two-fold effect. One reason is to protect the [...]

Camp Family update…

Hello Friends... Every day here at Camp can be considered a special day. A warm Summer night with the smell of marshmallows roasting over a campfire. A cool Spring evening with a symphony of critters and insects of all shapes and sizes emerging from their winter slumber. A snow covered Winter landscape where everything seems to be frozen to the point of complete stillness. A crisp Fall morning where the sun hits the changing leaves just right to make the canopy appear to be ablaze with beautiful colors. Children playing over at the Gaga court at Day Camp. Apples being [...]

Hello Friends... As you may or may not know, October is "Breast Cancer Awareness Month". Here at Camp, in the Kitchen, we are doing something small to contribute to the cause. The Dannon yogurt company has placed special lids on their products that contain a code that you can enter on the website www.cupsofhope.com . Dannon will donate 10 cents for every code entered to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. If you've ever eaten Breakfast at Camp you know we serve yummy yogurt and guess what... it's Dannon!! Nick and I have been saving lids and entering codes by the [...]

Greetings Friends of Camp... Last weekend we had another hugely successful Roll Up Tour Sleeves Weekend!! We had about 60 participants come out and spend some time lending a hand to spruce up Camp. Among the projects completed were a new bike rack for Matolly, a makeover to the flower bed in front of the Ocky Dining Hall (pictured below) and to the flower beds at both front entrances, a new Gaga court by the Trading Post at Ocky, remodeling inside the Ocky Boat House, staining of various structures, new benches all around Camp, new lighting at our Headquarters Building, [...]

Picture of the day…

Hey folks... In this "Picture of the Day"... I found our wonderful volunteer handyman, Dave Crane (right), repairing a door on the kitchen at the Matollionequay Dining Hall. Our own Maintenance Staff member, Jamie Coker (left) just happened to stop by to check in on Dave and I snapped this picture of them discussing the options to replace the old door sill. Thanks go out to Dave for the much needed work done to a sad, old door!! Be good... Chef Jason
